For those who are trying to find their way

The artist’s task is to save the soul of mankind, and anything less is a dithering while Rome burns. Because of the artists, who are self-selected, for being able to journey into the Other, if the artists cannot find the way, then the way cannot be found. – Terrence McKenna

This quote by Terrance McKenna is something that fuels me in my pursuit of diving deeper into the unknown but it frightens me as well since saving the soul of mankind is a daunting task. I’m a big believer in spirit and our sacred connection to it but I see a lot of things about society that are very alarming. Here’s a short list.

  • The tendency to attach to the superficial
  • The lack of general awareness
  • The disconnection from nature
  • Isolation and me-ism

I don’t want to go on too much about my gripes with the way I see certain aspects of our culture because there are a million other great traits that I also see. The situation on the ground here on Earth, well at least for humans, is not rosy. I realize that it’s easier to look away from the state of the planet since it seems too big to deal with on our own but I wish that people would wake up and begin to see our connection to all things.

In May of 2015, I was given a message. The message said that I should “Shine a Light.” This message was delivered to me by a wise spirit that we call the Grandmother. The tea that’s brewed by medicine people in the rainforest is what I’m referring to. The first night I drank Ayahuasca, which I’ll refer to as the Grandmother medicine from now on, I had a blissful experience. The message was clear. “Shine a Light,” but what did that mean?

The meaning to me was clear. The Grandmother was asking me to begin talking about my spiritual journey. Make art about it, make music, make conversation, begin to open up that dialogue. Since that day everything that I’ve created ties back to that notion. My art is about the soul; it’s about the light, it’s about hope and wisdom and love. I’ve been following my intuition since I first became aware of it at eight years old. That’s the moment I knew that I was an artist. It was a clear and direct knowing.

Let’s get to you because this isn’t’ about me. I just wanted to let you know where I was coming from so that you have a baseline of where this comes from. I feel that I was asked to “Shine a light” on this spiritual journey that I’ve been on because there’s a lot of disconnection today. I’m concerned that our conversations and thought patterns are sitting on the surface and never touching deep enough to understand the incredible opportunity that we have here on this planet and with each other.

I want to ask you a few questions, and I’ll be straight forward with them.

  • Do you connect with your soul?
  • Do you listen to and follow your intuition?
  • Do you long for a deeper connection to spirit?
  • Are you wanting deeper connections in life?

My guess is that you might have answered yes to most if not all of these. If so then I want to let you know that you’re not alone. You’re not crazy to seek deeper ideas about what it is to be alive. I don’t have all the answers; I only have my experience and the wisdom and truth that I’ve witnessed by putting myself out there on the edge of creation my entire life. I want you to see the art that I create as proof that the soul is real, the path that’s whispering to you is the right way for you, and that it’s always going to be there for you even in your darkest hour. It’s alive waiting to connect with you. I invite you to connect with the art that I have on this site. Read through some of the descriptions that accompany the prints I have. Think about yourself and your life. It’s worth contemplation. The answers that you seek are always at hand. Your connection to the divine is inside of you, all around you, and can never be extinguished. YOU are the light, my friend. This is the message that I’ve been asked to share. The more of us that “Shine our Light”, the more illumination will encompass this planet. The more love will shine.

When you think of your light – what does that look like? Let me know in the comments section. Would love to hear from you as every voice is important. Remember that what you say may inspire and encourage someone else so say what’s in your heart and don’t hold back. Much love.
